Kufr in Perspective
Monday: August 22, 2016 : Part 2
"What Makes You A Kaafir - Part 1?”
WHAT ARE THE NULLIFIERS OF YOUR SHAHADA?
- Major Shirk
- there are two types of shirk: Major and Minor
- minor shirk doesn’t nullify your shahada, only major shirk does
- to swear by something other than Allah doesn’t nullify your shahada because this is minor shirk.
- however, to sacrifice an animal in the name of a false deity is major shirk so this nullifies your shahada
Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab put together 10 things that nullify your shahada. Below is the first nullifier:
1 الشرك في عبادة الله تعالى Polytheism, which is worshipping other gods besides the One true God, Allah [4:48; 5:72]
- Regarding Shirk, Allah said in the Quran:
Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)
- It is worthy of mentioning that there is no excuse for worshipping a false deity.
- Those who give the excuse of ignorance for worshipping a false deity are misguided
- We refute those who give the excuse of ignorance to the mushrikeen with the Ayah below
And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying) : "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this." (Al-A'raf 7:172)
- The following Hadith is also used to refute the Aathir, excuser
Narrated from Anas (RA) that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back and said: “My father and your father are in Hell.” [Sahih Muslim (Vol. 1, pg. 191) No. 203]
- At the treaty of Hudabiyyah the envoy for the pagans of Makkah was Suhail ibn Amr
- When the Rasool (saw) instructed Ali to write “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem” at the top of the paper, Suhail ibn Amr objected and said they do not acknowledge ar-Rahman” and ar-Raheem”.
- They only acknowledged one God, and that was Allah
- This is clear evidence that even the pagans of Makkah knew that Allah was the only true God.
- The Hadith below is the evidence:
"Suhail said to the Prophet "Please conclude a peace treaty with us." So, the Prophet called the clerk and said to him, "Write: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ 'Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem' (In the Name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful)."
Suhail said, "As for الرَّحْمَنِ 'ar-Rahman (Beneficent), by Allah, I do not know what it means. So write: بِاسْمِكَ اللهُمَّ 'Bismika Allahumma' (By Your Name O Allah)..." [al-Bukhari (2731) and Muslim (1784)]
- Also, when some pagans were on a ship and the ship was about to sink, they didn’t call upon their idols for help.
- Instead, they called upon Allah alone
- This is clear evidence that when people are desperate, they go back to their natural instincts and worship Allah alone
- Hence, there is no excuse of ignorance for people who worship a false deity
- About these people on the ship, Allah said:
And when they embark on a ship, they invoke Allah, making their Faith pure for Him only, but when He brings them safely to land, behold, they give a share of their worship to others. (Al-'Ankabut 29:65)
- The most famous atheist to walk the face of the earth was the Pharaoh
- He even told the people of Egypt that he was their Lord the Most High
Then he gathered his people and cried aloud,Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (An-Nazi'at 79:23-24)
- However, when Allah punished the Pharaoh with various types of calamities like the locus, lice, frog, famine, and flood;
- he turned to Prophet Musa and begged him to pray to Allah to remove the punishment from them.
- If the Pharaoh was a real atheist, why did he approach Musa and beg him to pray to Allah on his behalf?
- About this incident, Allah said:
And when the punishment fell on them they said: "O Musa (Moses)! Invoke your Lord for us because of His Promise to you. If you will remove the punishment from us, we indeed shall believe in you, and we shall let the Children of Israel go with you.": But when We removed the punishment from them to a fixed term, which they had to reach, behold! They broke their word! (Al-A'raf 7:134-135)
- In another Ayah Allah told us that the Pharaoh believed in his heart, but outwardly he rejected faith in the name of pride, arrogance and haughtiness
- Hence, Allah said:
And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.). (An-Naml 27:14)
2. Dabble in Black Magic
- Allah made takfir on those who practice magic in the Quran
- Hence, Allah said:
They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their ownselves, if they but knew. (Al-Baqarah 2:102)
- Because of the above mentioned Ayah there is ijmaa among the scholars that anyone who dabbles in black magic is a kaafir.
- Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab made black magic one of his 10 nullifiers
7. السحر ومنه الصرف و العطف فمن فعله اورضى به كفر He commits kufr, who dabbles in black magic or pays someone to do magic on his behalf. [2:102]
- The Holy Prophet (saw) has commanded us to kill the practitioners of black magic in the Islamic State
Jundub (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The hadd (prescribed punishment) for the practitioner of magic is a blow with the sword (i.e., execution)" [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/60) No. 1460, Sunan al-Daraqutni (4/120) No. 3204, Mustadrak al-Haakim (4/401) No. 8073, al-Sunan al-Kabir al-Bayhaqi (8/234) No. 16500, al-Mu'jam al-Kabir al-Tabarani (2/161) No. 1665]
3. To place between yourself and Allah an intermediary and use it as a conduit to reach Allah
- This is the plight of the Sufi, Berailvi and the Rafida [Shia].
- They are the pagans of the Ummah because they are guilty of this third nullifier
- Allah refers to them as liars and kaafirs in the Ayah below:
Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya' (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say) : "We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah." Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Az-Zumar 39:3)
- Allah calls them liars and kaafirs because when they recite Surah Fatiha,
- They say: iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’een
- Yet they go to the graves and pray to the inhabitants of the graves
- This means they are not believers in iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’een
- Hence, Allah calls them liars and kaafirs
You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything). (Al-Fatihah 1:5)
- It is worthy of mentioning that the grave which is worshipped is an idol.
- Because the Prophet (saw) informed us about this reality
- The Hadith below explains further
Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. The anger on those who took the graves of their Prophets as places of prostration was terrible." [Muwatta Malik (1/223) No. 570, Musannaf Abdur Razzaq (1/406) No. 1587, Musnad Ahmad (2/246) No. 7352]
- When Umar was the Caliph, the Muslims suffered a severe drought.
- But Umar did not pray to the grave of the Prophet to ask the Prophet to beg Allah to remove the drought
- Instead, Umar begged the Prophet’s uncle Al-Abbas to pray to Allah for rain
- This is because Umar knew it was shirk to pray to the grave of the Prophet and ask for help
- The Hadith below explains further
Narrated By Anas: Whenever drought threatened them, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, used to ask Al-Abbas bin 'Abdul Muttalib to invoke Allah for rain. He used to say, "O Allah! We used to ask our Prophet to invoke You for rain, and You would bless us with rain, and now we ask his uncle to invoke You for rain. O Allah ! Bless us with rain." And so it would rain. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 2, Book 17, Hadith #123]
- The following Quranic verse is also used to refute the grave worshippers:
If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad SAW) like Him Who is the AllKnower (of each and everything)[]. (Fatir 35:14)
- Even Ibles will laugh at those who follow him on Day of Judgement
- Telling them to blame themselves and not to blame him.
And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.)." (Ibrahim 14:22)
4. Refuse to Call a Kaafir a Kaafir
- He becomes a kaafir who refuses to call a kaafir a kaafir
- Because by refusing to make takfir on a person who Allah calls a kaafir, such a person is trying to veto Allah
- This person is called an Aathir, excuser.
- Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab mentioned that this is one of the nullifiers of Islam
- So we have no choice but to make takfir on a person when his kufr is clear
3. من لم يكفر المشركين او شك في كفرهم او صحح مذهبهم He commits Kufr whoever does not apply the Kufr principle upon polytheists, or whoever doubts that polytheists are infidels, or whoever corrects the polytheists’ path. [3:19; 3:85]
- The RAND Foundation believe that the Sufis are natural allies of the West because they do not make takfir
- And they are the Christians of the Ummah
A 2007 report by the Rand Corp., a U.S. think tank, advised Western governments to "harness" Sufism, saying its adherents were "natural allies of the West." Read more: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1912091,00.html
- The Ghulaat Murjia believe that Christians and Jews are not kuffar and that they will be in Paradise on the Day of Judgement
- However, Allah has made takfir on the Jews and Christians and said they are the worst of created creatures in the Ayah below:
Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikun will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures. (Al-Baiyinah 98:6)
5. To take sides with the Kuffar against the Muslims
- Taking sides with the kuffar against the Muslims nullifies our shahada.
- Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab mentioned this as his eighth nullifier of Islam:
8. مظاهرة المشركين ومعاونتهم Helping polytheists against Muslims. The evidence on that is the saying of Allah, the Exalted: And if any amongst you takes them (as Auliyâ’), then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allâh guides not those people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong doers. (Al Maida 5:51)
- In the following Ayah, Allah said:
O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Auliya' (friends, protectors, helpers, etc.), they are but Auliya' to one another. And if any amongst you takes them as Auliya', then surely he is one of them. Verily, Allah guides not those people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers and unjust). (Al-Ma'idah 5:51)
- The Grand Mufti of Spain, ibn Hazm (ra) used the above Ayah to make takfir on anyone who takes side with the kuffar against the Muslims
Ibn Hazm Stated in Al-Muhalla (11/138): "What is correct is that His statement, the Most High, "And if any amongst you takes them as Auliya', then surely he is one of them." (The Quran 5:51), should be understood on the basis of its apparent meaning. The person being referred to is a disbeliever from the generality of disbelievers, and no two Muslims disagree regarding this."
- In our era there are a lot of so-called Muslim countries who are helping the Crusaders to kill Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Syria.
- These so-called Muslim countries are called apostate regimes
- And no two Muslims disagree regarding this according to Ibn Hazm
6. To reject one of the 5 pillars of Islam
- when Abu Bakr became the Caliph, some people refused to pay zakah
- so he killed the men and made the women concubines
- because they denied zakah, which is one of the five pillars of Islam
- they claimed we pay zakah to Muhammad because he was a Prophet
- but as for Abu Bakr, we are not going to pay him zakah because he is not a Prophet
- he is just an ordinary man like us.
- these people were guilty of making up their own religion
- because they deny that which is known of Islam by necessity
- Abu Bakr had no choice but to make takfir on them
- and kill them as apostates in a battle which was called Huroob ar-Ridda “War Against Apostates”
- the men were killed and their women were taken as concubines. Umar said about this incident:
By Allah, I found nothing but the fact that Allah had opened the heart of Abu Bakr for (perceiving the justification of) fighting (against those who refused to pay Zakat) and I fully recognized that the (stand of Abu Bakr) was right. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith #0029]
7. To deny one of the 6 pillars of Islam
- Iman has six pillars: to believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgement and Qadr, Destiny.
- Anyone who denies one of these six pillars has nullifies his shahada
- The following Hadith explains how ibn Abbas responded when he heard about people that denied Qadr
"I went to Ibn `Abbas and found him drawing water from the well of Zamzam. The bottom of his clothes was wet with the water of Zamzam and I said to him, `They talked about Al-Qadar (some denied it).' He asked, `Have they done this' I said, `Yes.' He said, By Allah! This Ayah was revealed only about them, ("Taste you the touch of Hell!'' Verily, We have created all things with Qadar.) They are the worst members of this Ummah. Do not visit those who fall ill among them or pray the Funeral prayer for those among them who die. If I saw one of them, I would pluck out his eyes with these two fingers of mine.'' [Ibn Kathir agreed Tirmidhi]
8. To ridicule an aspect of Islam
- To mock or ridicule an aspect of Islam like the hijab, beard, jilbab, niqab, salah, or hajj ejects the person outside the fold of Islam.
- In this regard, Allah said:
If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allah, and His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger (SAW) that you were mocking?" Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. (At-Tawbah 9:65-66)
- Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab mentioned this as one of his nullifiers below:
6 من استهزا بشيء من دين الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ثوابه او عقابه SIXTH: he commits Kufr whoever mocks some of God’s religion, some of God’s reward, or some of God's punishment. He commits kufr if he mocks the Messenger of Allah [saw]. [9:65-66]
9. To Dislike Something from Quran or Sunnah
- To dislike what Allah has revealed, ejects the person outside the fold of Islam
- In this regard, Allah said:
That is because they hate that which Allah has sent down (this Qur'an and Islamic laws, etc.), so He has made their deeds fruitless. (Muhammad 47:9)
- Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab mentions this point as one of the nullifiers of Islam
5 من ابغض شيئا مما جاء به الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم FIFTH: he commits Kufr whoever hates something that prophet Muhammad -peace and blessings be upon him- came with, even if he practices it. [47:9]
- If a Muslim women dislikes polygamy she is not a kaafir
- Because she only dislikes the difficulties that come with polygamy
- Likewise, if a Muslim brother dislikes Jihad he is not a kaafir
- Because he only dislikes the difficulties that come with Jihad
- However, if he should dislike the Ayahs about Jihad then he becomes a kaafir
- Because we are not allowed to dislike what Allah has revealed
- This is the same hukm for polygamy
- About the sahabas disliking Jihad, Allah said:
Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know. (Al-Baqarah 2:216)
10. To Believe in Quran but Not Hadith
- These people call themselves Quraniyoon
- We say to them how did you find out that Fajr has two Rakahs, Dhuhr has four, Asr has four, Maghrib has three, Isha has four and Jumuah has two?
- These information are not found in the Quran
- We also say to them how do you reconcile your religion with Allah’s words:
Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind) : "If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Aali Imran 3:31)
And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. (Al-Hashr 59:7)
And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW) the reminder and the advice (the Qur'an), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them, and that they may give thought. (An-Nahl 16:44)
- The three Ayahs above make it fard on all Muslims to follow Hadith
- So when you reject Hadith you have become kuffar outside the fold of Islam
11. To Believe There will be a Prophet After Muhammad saw
- This is the plight of Nation of Islam of America and the Qadiyani movement of India.
- They believe that there was a Prophet after Muhammad (saw)
- Allah refutes them in the Ayah below:
Muhammad (SAW) is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever AllAware of everything. (Al-Ahzab 33:40)
- The Prophet (saw) informed us that there is no Prophet after him in the Hadith below
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “My likeness and the likeness of the prophets before me is the likeness of a person who built a house, made it beautiful and made it complete, except the place of a stone in the corner. So people began to go round and to wonder at him and say: ‘Why have you not placed this stone?’ I am that stone and I am Khatam an-Nabiyyin (the Seal of the Prophets)". [al-Bukhari (3535) and Muslim (2286)]
QUESTION AND ANSWER
.
Q: Shaikh, when Allah says in Sura 3:102 don't die unless you die in a state of Islam, does that mean if you die committing a Major sin your are still in a State of Islam
- If a person dies committing zina or drinking khamr, he didn’t die as a kaafir
- Because zina and khamr are major sins
- But they are not major kufr
- Every major kufr is a major sin
- But not every major sin is a major kufr
- If a person died committing a major kufr, then he died as a kaafir and there is no hope for him in the hereafter
- An example of major kufr is to worship the graves, do magic, or to spy against the mujahideen for the crusaders
Q: the ahmadiyaa are straight up kaafir? Can they be killed under the shariah law?
- The Ahmadiya are kuffar because they believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was a Prophet after Muhammad (saw)
- Killing a person under Shariah law is in the hands of the Qadi (the Judge within the Islamic State).
Q: Asa Shaykh Faisel. Did the founder of Saudi Arabia apostate by aligning himself with the British to fight against the Khalifa and Ottomans. Please address Saudi relationship with Lawrence of Arabia? Jzk
- Taking sides with the British to destroy the Caliphate is an act of apostasy
- Even if we have a bad Caliphate, it’s always better to have a bad Caliphate than no Caliphate
- Because a bad Caliphate can be repaired
- Umar ibn Abdul Aziz was a pious Caliph who repaired a bad Caliphate
- Haroon ar-Rasheed was a pious Caliph who repaired a bad Caliphate
- There are many examples in Islamic history where a bad Caliphate was repaired
- The Lawrence of Arabia was a homosexual and an enemy of Islam and Muslims
- His mission was to destroy the Islamic Caliphate
Q: did you hear about Yasir Qadhi? is it true that he is doubting the quran, that it was tampered with?
- I saw Yasir Qadhi giving a speech on YouTube and he admitted that he has doubts that Islam is the truth
- When you study Islam with the kuffar, like Yasir Qadhi did, they will never allow you to graduate with a masters or a PhD unless they are sure that you’ve apostated from Islam
- They train you to spread fitna in the Ummah
- Yasir Qadhi was trained by the kuffar at Yale to spread fitna in the Ummah
YASIR QADHI DOUBTS ISLAM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rTQln0GWQ0
Dawah man expose yasir qadhi private emails where he doubts Hifz of Quran: https://youtu.be/Gpm2M2VZ7qA
Q: my mother believes in islam but refuses to take shahaada. if she dies will her belief save her?
- Your mother is similar to Abu Talib
- Abu Talib believed in Islam, but he did not take his shahada
- Even the Pharaoh believed in Islam but did not take his shahada
- If your mother doesn’t take her shahada, she wont be saved on the Day of Judgement. The Quran says even Allah and His angels testify to the Shahada:
Allah bears witness that La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), and the angels, and those having knowledge (also give this witness); (He is always) maintaining His creation in Justice. La ilah illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Aali Imran 3:18)
Q: aswrwb sheikh, is it wrong to praise muslim leaders like Erdogan or Morsi for attempting to bring back some islam even though one acknowledges they are kaffir?
- First of all, Erdogan and Morsi believe in democracy
- Democracy is the greatest shirk
- So they are not Muslim leaders
- In the eyes of the kuffar they are Muslim leaders
- But, in the eyes of the Muwahhideen and the Mujahideen they are kuffar and not Muslim leaders
- We are not allowed to praise these people who are taghoots
- because of the Hadith below:
Aisha narrated the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Those who give respect to a bid'ati (innovator in Religion) surely will be counted as a helper of destroying Islam." [al-Tabarani in 'al-Mu’jam al-Awsat' (7/35) No. 6772 and al-Bayhaqi in 'Shu'ab al-Emaan' (12/57) No. 9018]
Q: shaikh, if u go to kafir court house to defend u, are u kafir? Some of the hazmi,'s followers make takfeer on all Syrian nation kuffar, just because they go to kafir court house how valid this claim?
- Allah has made takfir on those who go to the kaafir courthouse for judgement in the following Ayah:
Have you seen those (hyprocrites) who claim that they believe in that which has been sent down to you, and that which was sent down before you, and they wish to go for judgement (in their disputes) to the Taghut (false judges, etc.) while they have been ordered to reject them. But Shaitan (Satan) wishes to lead them far astray. (An-Nisa 4:60)
- Allama al-Shinqiti has also made takfir on them in the fatwa below:
While 'Allama al-Shinqiti-May Allah be merciful with him-has said: To commit shirk with Allah in judging is of the same meaning as to commit shirk in His worship, there is no difference between the two in any manner. There is no difference in any sense between he who follows a system (nizam) other than Allah's system or law other than Allah's law (sharia) and he who worships an idol or prostrates to a false god. They are the same and both are polytheists [associating others] with Allah. [Adwa' al-Bayan, (7/162)]
Q:asalam aleykum shaikh. if someone makes Hijra from dar al kufr , is he or she allowed to come back?
- When you make hijra from darul harb to darul Islam you are not allowed to come back
- Only hypocrites and spies return to darul harb
- When the Rasool (saw) made hijra to Madina, he lived and died in Madina
- He didn’t live anywhere else
Q: are we as muslim, are we as muslims allowed to love the kuffar ?
- Allah told us that the Prophet loved his Uncle, Abu Talib
- So if the kaafir is a relative who is not antagonistic towards Islam, and you love him/her, you did not do anything wrong
- Because this love is natural
- It is only haram if you love a kaafir relative who is an enemy of Islam
Verily! You (O Muhammad SAW) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided. (Al-Qasas 28:56)
